Authorities are dispelling rumors about an active shooter at Dr. Phillips High School after someone made fake threats through a 911 call.
According to the Orlando Police Department, a call was received on Tuesday morning by the 911 center and the school, which is located at 6500 Turkey Lake Road, was put into lockdown as a result.
After officers canvassed the area, it was determined that the call was a hoax.
Parents and students were quick to post information regarding the hoax online. Multiple parents made posts across social media warning of an “active shooter” situation at the high school.
“The Orlando Police Department takes these incidents seriously and responded quickly. The campus is secure,” reads a statement from OPD.
