Police arrested a half dozen individuals from an uninhabitable home in DeBary after a multi-month investigation revealed that multiple drugs were being sold out of the home, including methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl.
Earlier this week, narcotics teams from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Deltona Police Department executed a search warrant at 3 Amigos Road in DeBary after receiving numerous complaints and tips about the residence. Two of those complaints came from DeBary Mayor Karen Chasez and City Manager Carmen Rosamonda, according to police.
During their search, authorities recovered over 90 grams of drugs from the home, including methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, alprazolam, and oxycodone.
As a result of the raid, police arrested six individuals: Thomas Moore, Tonya Crandall, Kimberly Marvin, Matthew Flynn, Michael Lortos, and Sebastian Chucci.
The search followed an investigation that began in August and saw undercover officers make multiple purchases of methamphetamine and heroin at the residence.
Authorities say that 14 individuals had been living inside the home, which they described as a “deplorable structure with makeshift electrical lines powered by a generator.”
After making the arrests, city code enforcement and building officials were called to the scene and subsequently deemed the home “uninhabitable due to unsafe and unsanitary” living conditions. The windows and doors of the property were barricaded and boarded up, according to police.
All of the individuals arrested were charged with various felonies, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, sale of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a church, and possession of heroin, among others. Bonds for those arrested ranged from $5,000 to $30,500, with two individuals receiving no bonds.
