Dwight Ainslie 1665400451

Dwight Layton Ainslie was born in Detroit, Michigan on 10/22/50, the son of Nancy and Robert Ainslie. He liked to tell those he met that he was from a small town in Michigan -“maybe you’ve heard of it – Detroit” which always got a laugh. Dwight worked with Camp Westminster during his early years. Camp Westminster held a special place in his heart. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1974 with an automotive teaching degree.

Dwight loved teaching and mentoring young auto technicians. He worked directly with the VOLVO and BMW corporations and dealerships. He taught in both private industry with VOLVO and BMW and retired from teaching in August, 2021 from Orlando Technical Collage, OCPS as an auto instructor.

Dwight enjoyed a renovation project and was self taught. He amazed everyone with his skill and talent. His most recent was a full home renovation – a project he undertook himself. His skill and expertise were amazing. He was a race car fan and knew the schedule of NASCAR and Formula 1 racing seasons.

Most importantly, Dwight (Popcorn, Grandpa, Poppa) delighted in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In conclusion, Dwight first and foremost was a gentle man, who accepted people as they were without judgement. He had many admirable traits, but his ability to make a difference in a person’s life was his greatest gift. Dwight never met a stranger and he had the personality that people sought him out as a friend and mentor. We are all better that Dwight Layton Ainslie touched our lives.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Crane Ainslie; sister Diane (Pat) Campbell, brother Don (Cheryl) Ainslie. He is survived by his children Bryan (Natalie) Ainslie; Melissa (Phil) Moser; Kristin Moon, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dwight is preceded in death by his loving grandson, Michael Wagner who held a special place in his heart.

A celebration of Dwight’s wonderful life will be held on November 12, 2022 at Fairview Vista Condominium Clubhouse from 1-4 pm. 4109 Fairview Vista, Orlando, FL 32804.
