35-year-old father killed, woman injured in northwest Orlando shooting

A 35-year-old father was killed and a woman was injured after a shooting in northwest Orlando early Sunday morning.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 5600 block of Perrine Drive on Sunday, October 23, at around 4:39 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

Before deputies arrived to the scene, a man, who was later identified as 35-year-old Maurice Jones Sr., was transported to the hospital. Jones died of his injuries shortly after being transported.

While on the scene, deputies discovered a woman in her 30s that had also been shot. That woman was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Homicide detectives are currently working to identify the suspects in the case. They say the suspects were seen leaving in a vehicle, but did not provide any information as to the make and model.
