A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with the homicide of a woman in south Orlando.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Tasmine Shawaun Boatwright on Tuesday, October 25, after a multi-month investigation into a shooting that claimed the life of 62-year-old Loleta Michele Young.
According to authorities, the fatal shooting took place on August 27 at the 1300 block of 42nd Street in Orlando. Young was found suffering from gunshot wounds just after 7 a.m. by sheriff’s deputies who were responding to a call regarding a shooting.
Young was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Shortly after her death, police identified Young and offered a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
A warrant for Boatwright’s arrest was issued on October 18, and one week later, police made contact with him at 2424 Lemon Tree Lane, where he was arrested. Boatwright is currently being held at the Orange County Jail.
