Missing 24-year-old Deltona man found dead at Green Springs Park

A man who went missing yesterday was found dead by authorities at a Deltona park on Friday.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 24-year-old Luis Curtiellas Aguirre was found on Friday morning at Green Springs Park, which is located at 994 Enterprise Osteen Road.

Deputies were called to the park by a witness who noticed Aguirre lying unresponsive under a tree. Police say that evidence at the scene suggests Aguirre’s death was a suicide caused by a gunshot.

A handgun and Aguirre’s bicycle were located nearby.

According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Luis Curtiellas Aguirre was last seen on Montego Street in Deltona on Thursday, October 27, around 5 p.m.

Aguirre was last seen leaving his residence on his bicycle on Thursday, October 27, at 5 p.m. After he did not return home, family members contacted authorities and expressed concern, explaining that it was unusual for him to leave for an extended amount of time.

“Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest sympathies,” reads a social media post from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
