A 20-year-old man was killed after his vehicle was involved in an accident on the Florida Turnpike this morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place on Monday, October 31, at 7:03 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, near mile marker 232 in Saint Cloud.

The 20-year-old man, who was from Coral Springs, was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla southbound on the turnpike.

A 2020 Volvo semi-truck with two trailers was stopped for traffic ahead in the outside southbound lane of the highway.

The Coral Springs man failed to stop for the stopped traffic ahead and attempted to swerve to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision. While trying to swerve, the left front of the Corolla struck the right rear of the semi-truck.

The Coral Springs man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 72-year-old man from Saint Cloud, was not injured in the crash.

The incident caused a roadblock for the outside lane of the turnpike in the morning.
