Potbelly sandwich shop opening six locations in Orlando

A popular midwestern sandwich shop that was founded in Chicago over 45 years ago has announced that it will expand its operations into Orlando for the first time.

On Tuesday, Potbelly announced that it has inked a multi-unit development deal to bring six new shop locations to Orlando over the next seven years.

Potbelly was established in 1977 in Chicago as a neighborhood sandwich concept serving toasted sandwiches, salads, hand-dipped shakes, and other menu items. Since then, the company has expanded to 400 company-owned shops and over 40 franchise-managed shops in the United States.

As part of a new initiative announced by the company in March, Potbelly plans to reach 2,000 units with at least 85% of those being franchised shops over the next 10 years. The brand also plans to re-franchise approximately 25% of its corporate shops.

“I am thrilled to announce another franchising deal to bring six new shops to the Orlando, Florida area. We are excited to embark on this new relationship with Shari Nasir and Imran Malik of Sugarland Investment Group, LLC to share the love of toasty sandwiches with Central Florida and broaden the Potbelly brand,” said Bob Wright, President and Chief Executive Officer of Potbelly.
