Man kills grandmother, daughters, granddaughter; 4-year-old and 6-year-old found hiding in Orlando home

A 23-year-old man killed a grandmother, her two daughters, her 4-year-old granddaughter, and attempted to kill another daughter before shooting himself in the head in an east Orlando home on Friday.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina detailed the gruesome scene that his deputies found on Friday morning on Myers Drive in the Union Park community.

According to Sheriff Mina, at 4 a.m., OCSO received a 911 call from a resident who said a neighbor had been shot and needed help.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered three women and a young girl, all from the same family, killed by gunshots.

The suspect, 23-year-old Shavell Jordan Jones, was on the scene suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Jones is currently in the hospital.

According to Sheriff Mina, one of the women was in a relationship with Jones. Late last night, Jones and the woman had an argument and Jones began moving his belongings out of the home. While he was moving items, Jones entered the home with a gun and began shooting the victims: A 49-year-old grandmother, 28-year-old and 29-year-old daughters, and her 4-year-old granddaughter.

Jones’ shot another daughter of the grandmother in her 20s who fled the home and sought help at a neighbor’s house.

Two children ages, 4 and 6 years old, were able to hide under blankets during the incident. They were found by police, unharmed in the home.

Court records show that Jones has no criminal history of domestic violence or dating violence involving any of the family members.
