Another restaurant along Edgewater Drive in College Park was forced to close its doors after the building’s landlord opted to not renew the lease.
Jade Sushi & New Asian permanently closed its restaurant this past weekend after a ten-year run at 2425 Edgewater Drive in College Park.
“It is with humble gratitude and a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Jade Sushi & New Asian,” said the company through social media, explaining that the landlord didn’t renew the business’s lease.
“This has been a very difficult and emotional decision and we are so sad to say goodbye, after 10 years. For an Asian restaurant to survive and thrive in College Park for 10 years is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud. And we couldn’t have done it without all of you,” said the company.
The restaurant did not indicate whether it will look for a new location.
“As much as we love Jade and seeing you walk through our doors, this is a bittersweet choice and a most difficult decision, to say the least,” reads the post.
The closure comes just weeks after two other locations in College Park were forced to close, including one just a few doors down from Jade Sushi & New Asian.
That restaurant, El Vic’s Kitchen, was forced to close its location at 2445 Edgewater Drive after two years in business. Owner/operator Sheetal Thakur said that the building landlord opted out of renewing the lease for the business in a social media post in September.
The closure of El Vic’s Kitchen came just a few days after nearby Thai Farm Kitchen closed its restaurant after less than eight months in business.
