With profound sadness we announce the passing of Gurdalyn Victoria Stewart on November 5, 2022 at age 84. Gurdalyn was born October 17, 1938 in Mountainside, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies. She was the only child for her father Leopold Robertson who was an Accountant for the Government in Kingston, Jamaica. She migrated to the United States of America July 4, 1965. She completed nursing classes and received her Certification for a Nurse’s Assistant to care for the elderly. She worked for a few years at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, New Jersey, NJ then moved on to working with Nursing Agencies. She was a very strong woman that wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce Mama Bear.
Gurdalyn is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Sonia Hale and Ian Hale, Clutilda Ramos and Jesus Ramos (Divorced). Three grandchildren – Shani, Tamia and Alan Hale – Eight great grandchildren ( 6 girls and 2 boys). Shani and Kevin Kevin Gagne, (son) Aedan Gagne; Tamia and Patrick Jacques (girls) Lilou, Ael, Chanelle, Nazareth, Ellyce Jacques, and (son) Eelias Jacques. Alan Hale and Nathaly Ferraroso-Osorio, (daughter) Niara Hale.
She is also survived by sister Erdie Davis; brothers, Aubrey Cornwall and Gladstone Cornwall; (nephews) Richard and Caswell Davis Jr.; (nieces) Karen and Olive Davis; and also grandnieces and nephews.
Gurdalyn loved to cook and kept an immaculate house. She was skilled at knitting and crocheting. Gurdalyn had a passion for gardening and loved entertaining her family and friends. Her passing will leave a huge void in our hearts but memories of mom that we hold so dear will live on forever.
