Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken working on Winter Park location

A popular southern biscuit and chicken restaurant that got its start in Durham, North Carolina is currently working on its first location in Florida.

Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken will open a series of seven franchises in the state of Florida, with the first location scheduled for construction at Lakeside Crossing in Winter Park.

The new business will join Bulla, Chuy’s, and Sixty Vines at the plaza, which is located at 110 S. Orlando Avenue.

Franchisee Don Schnurr and his family are hoping to open the other locations in the Greater Orlando Metro area, including Winter Garden, Celebration, and The Mall at Millenia.

The restaurants will feature a unique heated locker system and a touchscreen ordering kiosk system to provide a digital kitchen experience.

In addition to its namesake food offerings, the restaurant offers a variety of tots, coffees, and specialty donuts.

Established in 2012, Rise has expanded to 16 locations across multiple states including Kansas, Maryland, Georgia, and Tennessee.

“We expect to grow the greater Orlando area to 20 locations over the next five years,” Schnurr said. “We have an aggressive growth plan in place, coupled with experienced operators and funding necessary to accomplish this growth.”

According to the company, the Winter Park location is expected to open in early 2023 and will operate from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
