Missing 3-year-old found dead in Seminole County retention pond

A three-year-old boy who was reported missing was found dead in a retention pond over the weekend.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, Axel Caballero was declared missing this weekend after wondering away from his home in the 1300 block of Ponce De Leon Boulevard in unincorporated Winter Springs.

“We are deeply saddened to report Axel was located by SCSO Dive Team members deceased in a nearby retention pond. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” reads a statement from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
