58-year-old man in serious condition after hit-and-run on Colonial Drive

A 58-year-old Orlando man is in serious condition after he was struck on Colonial Drive by a car that fled the scene.

The incident took place near the intersection of West Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road at 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities say that an unknown vehicle as traveling westbound on the inside lane of W Colonial Drive, just west of N Hiawassee Road, when a pedestrian entered its path.

The pedestrian was walking south and entered the westbound lanes of Colonial Drive outside of a marked crosswalk, according to police.

After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene.

According to FHP, there were no witnesses on scene and the pedestrian, who is currently hospitalized at the Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, could not provide a description of the vehicle.
