Eleanore Margaret Weston

Eleanore Margaret (Thomas) Weston passed away peacefully in the a.m. hours on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Cadbury Park, Venice, Florida. She was blessed with longevity of years, reaching 99 ½.

She was the loving wife of the late Willard Ray Weston. She was born May 29, 1923 in Ashtabula, Ohio to George and Rose Thomas and spent many years on the family farm. She graduated from Newbury High School in 1940 and married the love of her life, Willard Weston, June 17, 1944, having a lovely military wedding by the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida. After WWII, she and Willard returned to Ohio to make their home in Bedford, Ohio. They raised their two sons in Ohio, then, returned to sunny Florida in January, 1987 for retirement.

They began their return to Florida as snowbirds, owning a condo in Winter Park at Lakeside Manor; then, missing the added space a home brings, they bought and resurrected a large home in Maitland, Florida. They remodeled the whole home, making it warm and cheery.

Both Eleanore and Willard were avid square dancers, and belonged to two active clubs. They both were “Angels”, teaching newcomers how to square dance and also held leadership positions at The Whirl & Twirl Square and Round Dance Club. Eleanore worked very hard to help another club come to life- The Hoedowners, which became very lively, active and fun. She served as President a number of years. Both Eleanore and Willard enjoyed dancing three times a week, which helped contribute to their long lives. Eleanore was always busy doing many things and had a lot of interests and hobbies. She loved cooking and baking, gardening, had her own garden at the Bedford home, growing fifty June- bearing delicious strawberry plants, singing in her local church choir, had taught square dance to young elementary students, opened her home to a number of roomers as a business and even board to a few, cooked for fifty men for the Lions Club a number of years, enjoyed refurbishing furniture with her many varnishes, was a master painter and wallpaper hanger, assisted both her sons in their homes with varnishing and painting and at her eldest son’s horse farm, loved to sew garments, sewing matching outfits for herself and Willard for square dancing in Florida. She loved music and playing the organ was a delightful hobby. She enjoyed family gatherings for years and was blessed with five grandchildren and five great-grands! Having a special 25th and then a 50th wedding anniversary party with family and friends, the parties continued at Whirl and Twirl Square Dance Club for years for both Willard’s milestone birthdays as well as her own and also their anniversaries celebrated. The hall would be filled with ninety people! A special 75th birthday party for Eleanore was held at the home on Lyndale Blvd, where family and many guests filled the house for the celebration. Everyone enjoyed the delightful music by a wonderful accordionist.

Eleanore’s life was full!! She outlived all her siblings. Eleanore is survived by son, Robert G. (Robin) Weston, Hayesville, NC, Joyce Weston, Newbury, Ohio, granddaughter, Brenda Weston, Rocky River, Ohio, grandson, Chad (Sarah) and great-grandson, Cash Richard Weston, California, son, Donald A.
