60-year-old killed in possible hit-and-run while riding motorized skateboard

Law enforcement authorities are asking the public for help to identify and locate the vehicle and person responsible for striking and killing a 60-year-old man last week while he was riding a motorized scooter in Orlando.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, on Wednesday, November 23, passersby reported discovering the body of a 60-year-old Altamonte Springs man located on the grass shoulder of S Westmoreland Drive, just north of 34th Street in Orlando.

Authorities say that preliminary evidence suggests the man was operating a motorized skateboard on S. Westmoreland Drive in the southbound lane.

The man traveled off the roadway and onto the grass, falling off the skateboard. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police believe the man died within the 12 hours of when his body was found.

FHP Traffic Homicide Investigators are continuing to investigate the case and are asking anyone with information to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
