Three students in fifth and fourth grades were recently selected by Orange County officials as the winners of this year’s Recycle “Write” Poetry Contest.
Thirty-eight students submitted entries into this year’s contest, which celebrates Orange County Recycles Day and teaches students about the journey that garbage takes in the county.
Emma Ford of Laureate Park Elementary School, Itamar Moyal of the Orlando Torah Academy, and Olivia Minier of the Good Shepherd Catholic School were named the winners of this year’s contest.
During the campaign, county officials stressed the importance of focusing on the top five recyclable items – plastic, metal, glass containers, cardboard, and paper. To help residents determine what items should and should not be recycled, the county has developed a “What Goes Where” tool.
