Deltona man dies after dirt bike strikes Jeep

A 50-year-old Deltona man was killed after the dirt bike he was riding collided with a Jeep.

On Saturday, November 19, firefighters and emergency personnel responded to Winterville Street in Deltona after receiving calls regarding an accident.

Traffic detectives say that the driver of the Jeep was driving west on Winterville Street in Deltona and turned left into the driveway of his home. He heard and felt a large impact from the passenger side of the Jeep.

Upon exiting the vehicle, the man saw a motorcyclist lying injured in the roadway.

The man was later identifed as 50-year-old Otis White of Deltona.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene and Traffic Homicide units responded to the scene and preliminary indications show that the dirt bike was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the Jeep.
