A group of local officers set out to make Thanksgiving dinner a little easier for senior citizens and local families.
Winter Park Police officers delivered more than 50 turkeys weighing around 500 pounds to seniors and families across the community who otherwise would have gone without the bird for Thanksgiving Day.
Police say the effort was made possible through an anonymous donor who purchased the turkeys through Publix.
Officers picked up the birds on Monday and delivered them to the Winter Park Housing Authority.
“We’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the individual who made this kind gesture. While they wish to stay out of the limelight, their act of kindness did not go unnoticed. We are so happy to be a part of making this possible,” reads a statement from the Winter Park Police Department.
