Dennis John Dorsey

Dennis John Dorsey; February 26, 1935 – November 12, 2022.

A resident of Village on the Green, Longwood, Florida, he was born in San Jose California to William Arthur Dorsey and Francis Pace Dorsey and resided in West Sacramento, CA. He attended college at the University of Santa Clara where he majored in Business and Military Science, matriculating in 1956 as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.

Dennis married Gillian C. Chadsey in Chevy Chase, Maryland after his return from duty in Korea. Dennis retired from the Regular Army after two tours in Germany, two deployments to Vietnam, a tour with NATO in Ankara Turkey along with multiple US duty locations. Dennis was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Air Medal, (4) Legions of Merit, (2) Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, along with numerous commendations and service awards for his time in Viet Nam and Korea. While on active duty, Dennis earned his MBA from Central Michigan University. Denny and his wife travelled throughout their time in the military and after, and he was also an avid tennis player. After retiring in 1978, Dennis held various personnel management positions in the public sector in and around Central Florida. Dennis lost his beloved wife Gill, after 56 years of marriage, in December 2016.

Dennis is survived by his son Dennis J Dorsey Jr. (Elise Livaudais Dorsey) along with their three sons, Dennis J Dorsey III Esq., Dr. Andrew Corbett Dorsey (Dr. Natalie Stringer Dorsey) and Logan Livaudais Dorsey; by his son Richard P Dorsey (April Doebler Dorsey) and his brother Terrence Dorsey (Katherine Dorsey).

Dennis was extremely fortunate to find a wonderful companion and second chance at love with Minna Earnest who also recently preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at Village on the Green in Longwood, FL on January 7, 2023.
