One man is in critical condition and another was seriously injured after a head-on collision on the exit lanes between Interstate 4 and the Florida Turnpike.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2012 Ford Aerostar being driven by a 48-year-old Orlando man was exiting I-4 onto the southbound exit of the Florida Turnpike. The vehicle was using the inside lane.
A 2008 Hyundai Sonata being driven by a 33-year-old man from Floral City was traveling southbound on the Turnpike and was exiting onto the I-4 ramp.
As the Aerostar approached a right-hand curve on the ramp, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and maintain the inside lane. As a result, the vehicle traveled over the raised concrete median and entered the direct path of the Sonata.
The front of the vehicles collided with each other, causing the Aerostar to be propelled off the roadway and crash into a guardrail. The Sonata was propelled off the roadway and crashed into a concrete median.
The 48-year-old man was transported as a trauma alert with critical injuries to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. The 33-year-old man was transported to the same hospital with serious injuries.
As of 8:05 a.m., the roadblock was cleared from the highway.
