Local authorities are asking the public for help in finding a vehicle that struck a 12-year-old Orlando boy while he was riding his bicycle before fleeing the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Avalon Park East Boulevard and Auburn Cove Lane on Friday, November 18, at around 4:24 p.m.
Authorities say that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Avalon Park Boulevard, approaching Auburn Cove Lane in the outside lane.
The boy was riding his bike westbound on Auburn Cove Lane, approaching Avalon Park Boulevard. The bicyclist continued traveling west and entered the northbound lane, not within a marked crosswalk.
As a result, the front right of vehicle one struck the boy.
After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene northbound on Avalon Park Boulevard. The boy was transported to Nemours Hospital with serious injuries.
A witness advised that the suspect vehicle was a silver sedan but could not obtain a tag number. The investigating trooper was able to obtain video footage of the crash from a local resident. The video does not show the tag number of the suspect vehicle.
