Orlando officials broke ground on a new fire station this week.
On Tuesday, November 22, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar, and members of the Dover Shores community celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Orlando Fire Department Station 11.
Nicknamed “The Beast of the East,” the new, 14,918-square-foot station will replace the old station at the corner of Curry Ford Road and Gaston Foster Road.
The state-of-the-art facility will provide surrounding neighborhoods with a modern facility, equipped with the latest in technology and space to accommodate multiple, specialized units and equipment, according to city officials.
The station will be home to two and a half dozen firefighters, four loading bays, and Engine, Tower, Rescue, and District Chief units.
