Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision, FHP looking for driver

A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision in a hit-and-run accident that took place this morning in Orlando.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene of a crash that occurred in the eastbound lanes of State Road 520 on Thursday, December 1, at around 5:17 a.m.

According to FHP, a 2006 BMW 650i was traveling westbound in the inside eastbound lane of State Road 520, just east of State Road 528 in Orlando. The vehicle, which was traveling the wrong way, crashed into a 2022 Honda CMX300 Motorcycle being driven by an unidentified individual.

That individual was thrown off of the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

After the collision, the driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot. Traffic Homicide Investigators are currently investigating the fatal crash and are working to confirm the identity of the motorcyclist.

A roadblock was in place for the eastbound lanes of State Road 520 as of 9 a.m.
