A 57-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly attacking and stabbing a homeless man near an encampment that he claims stole cologne from him.
Orlando Police Department Special Enforcement Division officers arrested Gary K. Gangloff in connection with a stabbing that occurred on November 25 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
During that incident, police responded to the 600 block of Ossie Street after they were notified by security for the Coalition for the Homeless of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, they discovered a homeless adult male victim had been stabbed and left with several wounds on his arm, chest, and leg.
The OPD Crime center located video surveillance that showed a man using a metal pole and knife to attack the victim.
Detectives were able to track down additional video and eventually identified the suspect as Gangloff.
After he was arrested, Gangloff told investigators that the fight happened because the victim stole his cologne. He says he warned the victim that he would attack him if it was not returned.
According to police, Gangloff has spent a combined 30 years in prison and was released in May 2022. He is facing a charge of attempted murder with a weapon.
