A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday after his vehicle crashed into the side of a pickup truck that was attempting to turn on U.S. Highway 1.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal incident took place at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Main Street at around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6.

A Toyota Tundra being operated by a 74-year-old Sebastian man was stopped at a stop sign on Main Street, at its intersection with U.S. Highway 1, when he began to drive forward to initiate a left turn.

The pickup truck traveled into the path of a Suzuki motorcycle being driven by a 22-year-old Palm Bay man, and the front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the pickup truck.

The motorcyclist was transported to the Sebastian River Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
