A 38-year-old man was killed after his vehicle crashed into another vehicle head-on while he was driving the wrong way on State Road 417.
The fatal accident took place near mile marker 36 on S.R. 417 in Orange County on Saturday, December 17 at around 3:42 a.m.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 38-year-old man was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang southbound in the northbound lanes of S.R. 417 when his vehicle struck a 2012 Honda Odyssey being driven by a 40-year-old Palatka man.
A third vehicle, a 2018 Honda Accord being driven by a 24-year-old Oviedo man, was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the rear of the Odyssey. After the second collision, the Accord and Odyssey collided with the center concrete wall barrier.
The Orlando man was transported to AdventHealth East Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The Palatka man was transported as a trauma alert in stable condition to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The Oviedo man was transported with minor injuries to AdventHealth East Hospital.
