A 23-year-old deputy that works for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Interstate 4 in Seminole County this weekend.

Deputy Julia Curtin, who was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2019, was arrested on Saturday, December 17, after she was stopped by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper on I-4 in Seminole County.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Curtin was pulled over in her personal vehicle at 11:30 p.m., near the I-4 interchange with State Road 46, after she exhibited an erratic pattern while driving.

Following an investigation by FHP, Curtin was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported to the Seminole County Jail.

“This is not good news, but you have the right to hear about it,” reads a post from VCSO. The sheriff’s office says that Curtin was arrested while off-duty in her personal vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says that Curtin will be placed on administrative leave with pay due to the arrest.
