A local Latin restaurant was forced to temporarily close its doors after multiple roaches were found around the kitchen, including one inside a flour bin.
Los Kairos Latin Food, LLC temporarily closed on Wednesday, December 14, and Thursday, December 15, after a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited 22 violations, including 5 considered high priority.
Among the violations cited was the presence of roaches, as evidenced by two dozen dead and alive roaches found around the restaurant. That included two live roaches found on a bag of rice and one found on a storage container of flour.
In addition to roaches, a stop sale was issued on a variety of food items, including five pounds of cooked cabbage, 40 pounds of chicken, 25 pork tamales, 12 pounds of pork chops, and thirty-six pounds of cooked beef.
The following day, the restaurant was reinspected and at least ten violations were cited. Additionally, a stop sale was issued for flour after a live roach was found crawling in the container storing the ingredient.
The restaurant was inspected a third time on December 15, and again failed inspection after a roach was found behind the microwave in the kitchen.
During a fourth inspection on Friday, December 16, the restaurant was permitted to reopen after only two violations remained.
