On December 17, 2022, Walter Luis Urriola, age 64, of Fern Park, Florida, passed away. He was surrounded by his family.
Born in Manhattan, NY on January 23, 1958, Walter was the son of the late Julia and Carlos Urriola. Walter was a hard working man that cared about providing for his family and friends. He worked for over 30 years at the Greenwich Police Department, St. Peter’s School, and St. Andrew’s School in Connecticut in building maintenance and as the head custodian. Walter also had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating a cleaning services business.
Walter loved to play handball and racketball, watch John Wayne movies, take walks around the neighborhood, and volunteer at church. You could always hear him cracking jokes, talking about his beloved New York Mets, or raving about his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and selfless heart.
Walter was preceded by his parents, Julia Urriola and Carlos L. Urriola and granddaughter, Yolanda Urriola.
Walter will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Migdalia; his four children, Benjamin Urriola and his wife Nicole of New Milford, CT, Samara Diggs and her husband Taj of Meriden, CT, Tahira Newkirk and her husband Tiray of Fern Park, FL, Tatiana Cole and her husband Darryl of Springfield, MA; his sister Alexia, his brothers Luis and Carlos, his ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of those who had the opportunity to know him over the years.
Friends and Family will be received in the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 9001 Orlando Ave, Maitland, FL 32751 on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 1-5pm. Viewing is from 1-2pm. Service is from 2-3pm with reception on-site to follow.
