An elderly woman was found dead in her Deltona home after a fire consumed the property on Christmas night.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Deltona Fire Department responded to a home on Gregory Drive shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 25, after receiving calls regarding a fire.
Upon arrival, fire crews worked to subdue the flames and, after getting the fire under control, found a woman had been inside the home during the fire. The woman, who police believe was in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has not been identified by authorities as of Monday morning.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire and will provide more information regarding its cause at a later date.
