John was an entrepreneur, father, king of sarcastic jokes and lover of music – especially the Beatles. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana February 2nd, 1955 and grew up there.
As a kid he would run through the lakes and areas that sat between his grandparents and parents houses. He spent summers at his family’s lake house at Pokagon. He started Great Lakes Rubber & Hydraulics Co with his brother Kurt Mundinger, later moving to both Florida and California throughout his life. In recent years he lived and was based in Montverde, Florida (CEO and
co-founder of Seaboard Properties Inc. as well as President of seller finance llc before retirement) working in advertising and marketing with Advantage Solutions when he realized he could not stand the inactivity.
He is survived by his two children – David Mundinger and Amber
Mundinger-Glaeser. Amber loved talking to him about music, listening and exchanging songs and learning from his encyclopedic knowledge – he was a passionate listener from rock n roll to classical. He loved Vivaldi as much as Pink Floyd.
He was a completionist. The man loved finishing a job properly without any shortcuts. He always wanted to do things the right way and understand what he was doing. He may have been a textbook accountant but he was also a closet engineer. John loved working on machines and repairing structures. One of the most frustrating things for him towards the end was he could no longer do that.
An excellent father who never became bored or lost interest. A good friend who was always willing to listen but wouldn’t judge. A man of common sense.
He passed on Christmas night, Sunday, December 25, 2022. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He loved old fashioned hard candy, Christmas music and all the decorations. So in many ways it was extremely fitting for him to spend the day connecting with his children and then pass peacefully that evening. He will be greatly missed by all. We love you dad.
