A 33-year-old Orlando woman who flipped her vehicle on State Road 520 was killed after she walked into the roadway and was struck by another vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place near the intersection of SR 520 and Cocoa Water Plant Road on Tuesday, January 3, around 2:53 a.m.
The woman was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on SR 520, just west of Cocoa Water Plant Road, when she ran off the roadway onto the inside shoulder. The vehicle overcorrected to the right and overturned on the outside shoulder of the roadway.
After the crash, the woman exited her vehicle and walked into the eastbound lane.
While she was in the eastbound lane, she was struck by a 2006 Volvo XC90 being driven by a 68-year-old Satellite Beach man. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Volvo was uninjured in the crash and remained on scene.
