A popular skate park in Volusia County is closing for the next few months as it goes under construction for upgrades.
Colin’s Dream Skate Park, which is located at 210 E Blue Springs Avenue in Orange City, is currently closed for construction as crews work to install new decking.
A reopening date has not been announced, but officials say that it may take up to 90 days for construction to be completed.
Part of Coleman Park, Colin’s Dream Skate Park is the realization of local residents and skateboarders who were looking for a safe place to skate and a way to honor the late Colin Anderson, a skateboarder who was killed at the age of 12 after he was hit by a pickup truck on U.S. 17-92.
The new decking for the park was approved last year by Orange City government officials.
