Gilberto Carrion, 79, of Orlando, FL, passed away on January 3, of 2023. Gilberto Carrion was born on February 24th of 1943 in Arecibo, P.R. He graduated from Morris High School in Bronx, N.Y. in 1960, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico.

Gilberto served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Sharpshooter Badge and a National Defense Service Medal.

In 1967, Gilberto met Irma Rosado in Puerto Rico. Gilberto and Irma went on to have three children, daughter Karen, son Alexis, and daughter Johanna.

In 2008, Gilberto retired and spent his time taking on home projects. He was a talented builder, who took great pride in completing multiple home upgrades.

He was a caring brother to his late sister Ana Lydia Carrion, and a son who looked after his mother well into her later years. A dedicated uncle to his two nieces Marilyn Cuevas, and Maritza Velazquez, and a doting father and grandfather to his six grandchildren.

Gilberto enjoyed a well lived life, traveling with the US Army throughout the United States, and abroad. He loved romantic music and played piano, and acoustic guitar. Gilberto enjoyed an active social life always maintaining relationships with many friends who loved him and joined him in karaoke.

We will always remember so many beautiful memories from the tree houses Gilberto built for his kids, to the elaborate Halloween haunted house, and the Christmas village he so adored.

Gilberto is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Irma Rosado-Carrion, his daughter Karen Kaminski, son Alexis Carrion, daughter-in-law Jessie Ortiz, daughter Johanna Demetrius son-in-law Gregory Demetrius, and grandchildren, Karla Arroyo, Anthony Carrion, Jocelyn Carrion, Jake Demetrius, and Zack Demetrius.

May he enjoy his reward in heaven as he joins his late grandson Alexie Carrion.

Services will be held at A Community Funeral & Sunset on January 11th, of 2023 at 5:30pm.
