A 35-year-old Deltona man and his mistress were arrested for allegedly molesting a 2-year-old child that was under their care.
Jason Zeak and Andrea Shearin were arrested by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday, January 4 after detectives were contacted by Zeak’s spouse regarding potential sexual abuse to a 2-year-old victim.
According to authorities, Zeak’s spouse discovered that he and Shearin were having an extramarital affair. The spouse obtained hundreds of text messages that included evidence of abuse. The spouse provided those messages to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office detectives for review.
During their review, detectives discovered multiple references to the sexual abuse of the child, whose relationship to Zeak is not being identified for the victim’s protection. The text messages also included a discussion of plans for future abuse.
Although the exact date of the abuse is unconfirmed, police believe it took place in October 2022.
Zeak and Shearin were transported to the Volusia County Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a person under 12 years of age. Zeak is still incarcerated on $152,000 bond, while Shearin was released after posting bail approximately 23 hours after she was incarcerated.
A hearing has been scheduled in the case for January 12, according to court records.
