A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a purse-snatching that left an elderly victim injured and bloody.
Brycen Williams was arrested by Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Thursday, January 5, on charges of robbery by sudden snatching, petit theft, and battery on a person over the age of 65.
Police were able to find Williams after receiving a tip from a citizen that led to a positive identification.
On December 30, Williams allegedly entered the iDevice Repair located at 2525 Howell Branch Road in Casselberry.
According to police, Williams approached a victim in the parking lot and ran up to her to snatch her purse. As he grabbed the purse, he caused the victim to fall to the ground and sustain injuries.
Video released by the Casselberry Police Department shows Williams run past the woman. The woman is startled and looks back to the store, before Williams runs past again and knocks her to the ground. The victim, who began bleeding, entered the store and asked the manager for help.
Seminole County Fire Rescue responded and administered first aid to the victim. She refused transport to the hospital.
After the incident, police released video and images of the suspect, describing him as a black male wearing a black puffer jacket, gray sweatpants, and Jordan slides.
“This case is another example of residents and stakeholders partnering with the police department to make the community safer,” reads a statement issued by the Casselberry Police Department.
Williams is scheduled to appear in court on February 14, at 1:30 p.m.
