John Charles Ulmer, 88, passed away on December 31, 2022 in Orlando, Florida at Cornerstone Tavares Hospice House. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio on September 11, 1934 to Mildred and Donald Ulmer.
John was a graduate of Scott High School and spent two years in the United States Navy Reserves. He was employed for many years as a tool and die maker and taught tool and die at the University of Toledo prior to his retirement. John was an avid reader, woodworker, and fixer upper often helping family and friends with various projects and odd jobs.
He is survived by his partner, Nina Madden; children, Timothy (Connie) Ulmer, Darcy (Joseph) Dusseau, Julie Parke, Jennifer (Jay Filiere) Viertlbeck, Molli (Jennifer Marsh) Ulmer; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Lynne) Ulmer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin Fritsch; grandchildren, Jacob Fritsch, Heather Kinsman; sons-in-law, Todd Parke and Joseph Viertlbeck.
Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday January 10, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. where his family will share memories at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
