Man killed after car rolls over into river in Altamonte Springs

A man was killed early this morning after his vehicle ran off the road and rolled into a river in Altamonte Springs.

According to the Altamonte Springs Police Department, the fatal accident took place in the area of State Road 436 and Orange Avenue around 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10.

Police and Seminole County Fire Department units arrived on the scene to find a vehicle that appeared to have rolled over and run into a bed of water nearby.

An SCFD diver was able to retrieve the driver from the vehicle, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have identified him as a male, but have not provided any additional details regarding his identity.

The eastbound lanes of SR 436 had been closed, but have since reopened. The westbound lane on Orange Avenue, from SR 436 to West Town Parkway, was still shut down as of 11:30 a.m.
