Local firefighters were called to the scene of two large fires that spread across a marshy area in Seminole County over the weekend.
On Sunday, January 8, Seminole County Fire Department crews and the Florida Forest Service responded to two separate fires located in Oviedo, in the area of Mims and Lake Harney.
Multiple units, including air support, engines, and firetrucks, attacked the large fire, whose size was estimated at about two football fields.
Local residents reported seeing the smoke from miles away, including as far as Sanford.
The fires were taken under control quickly, and no injuries were reported.
