Seminole County authorities are investigating the accidental release of a man who is facing sex trafficking and prostitution charges after he was re-arrested a couple days later.
On Sunday, January 8, Alan Dixon, 42, was released at approximately 9 p.m. from the John E. Polk Correctional Facility at 211 Eslinger Way in Sanford.
At the time of his release, Dixon posted bond for his charges and was given a return court date in late January.
On Tuesday, January 10, internal protocols determined that Dixon should have remained in custody on a Department of Corrections hold.
Authorities made contact with Dixon within hours and he was returned to custody overnight on January 10, leading into Wednesday January 11.
Dixon was originally placed on GPS monitoring upon his initial release and never presented a threat to the public, according to Seminole County law enforcement authorities.
After he was returned to jail, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma initiated an administrative investigation into the release.
Dixon faces multiple charges related to human trafficking and collecting money from prostitution. According to court records, Dixon is accused of transporting women from outside of Florida to a location in Seminole County and forcing them to perform sexual acts in exchange for money.
Dixon is scheduled for a docket sounding on January 25, according to Seminole County court records.
