Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a murder-suicide that took place at a home in Longwood on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff’s office deputies responded to the 2400 block of Jennifer Hope Boulevard in unincorporated Longwood at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, in regards to a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies located an injured female lying in the front yard. The woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and eventually succumbed to her injuries.
Witnesses told police that the woman was shot by an elderly man who was still in the residence.
After obtaining a search warrant, SCSO deputies entered the home and discovered the elderly man deceased inside the home. The man appeared to be killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooting is currently under investigation, but appears to be domestic in nature and poses no threat to the community, according to police. The names of the deceased have not been released, pending next of kin notification.
