A 27-year-old Kissimmee man was killed after his car was t-boned by a group of individuals who were fleeing police in a stolen vehicle.
The fatal accident took place on Saturday, January 14, just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Marigold Avenue and Peabody Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a group of individuals who stole a 2019 Range Rover was traveling southbound on Marigold Avenue in Osceola County. The vehicle was actively fleeing deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The Kissimmee man was driving a 2015 Honda Civic eastbound on Peabody Road, approaching the intersection with Marigold Avenue. The man brought his vehicle to a complete stop at the stop sign and then proceeded through the intersection.
The Range Rover drove through the intersection and crashed into the left side of the Civic, pushing the Civic into a stop sign before it entered a ditch.
The driver of the Civic was pronounced deceased at the scene.
After the crash, the suspects in the Range Rover attempted to flee the scene on foot. Three of the occupants were arrested by Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators are still searching for a possible fourth occupant, and are still working to identify who was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.
