Orlando police looking for suspect who vandalized LGBTQ businesses

Orlando police are trying to identify an individual who is accused of vandalizing a group of LGBTQ+ businesses.

On Wednesday, Orlando Police Department released details on the incident, which occurred at approximately 3:41 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18.

In video, a suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt is seen vandalizing a group of businesses in the 2400 block of East South Street.

The suspect appears to use an unknown item to shatter the windows of two of the businesses from a short distance away.

The suspect is then seeing running west bound on South Street, across Bumby Avenue.

The businesses, which were closed at the time and empty of employees or patrons, identify themselves as LGBTQ+ and suspect that the attack was intentional.

“The Orlando Police Department does not tolerate criminal behavior of any kind. Whoever committed this brazen vandalism against our city’s LGBTQ+ businesses will be held accountable,” said OPD Chief Eric Smith.

If you saw this individual or recognize him, please call the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300 or contact Central Florida Crimeline anonymously at 800-423-8477.
