The Orlando Police Department is asking the public for help to identify a suspect who allegedly rear-ended another vehicle, shot the passenger, and stole a backpack over the weekend.
On Saturday, January 21, at around 2:30 p.m., OPD East Patrol officers responded to the intersection of S. Semoran Boulevard and Lee Vista Boulevard after receiving a call regarding a shooting and armed robbery.
Upon arrival, police discovered a male victim who was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended by an SUV on S. Semoran Blvd.
According to the victim, both vehicles pulled over to the side of the road after the accident and the victim began speaking with the other driver.
At that point, a male suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and took his backpack, which led to an argument and struggle.
The suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim before getting back into his SUV and leaving the scene with the stolen backpack.
The victim ran to a nearby restaurant, where responding officers found him. Those officers were able to apply a tourniquet to the victim’s injuries before he was taken to a local hospital.
Police have not provided any suspect information at this time, but he is believed to have been driving a gold, older-model Nissan Murano.
