Clayton P Bronson, age 61, of Longwood, FL (formerly of Freeville, NY) passed away at home surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Clayton was born December 26, 1961 in Corning, NY to the late Clayton & Miriam (Rouse) Bronson. He was a 1980 graduate of Corning-Painted Post West High School, and he later went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree from Empire State College.
Clayton was employed by Cornell University from 1997-2021. While at Cornell, he was an Associate Director of Fire Protection & Emergency Services. He was later the Associate Director of Fire Compliance & Emergency Services. Clayton spent most of his life in the fire and emergency services field. He started at the age of 16 with the Lindley-Presho Fire Department. He also spent time with the Newfield Fire Company, Bangs Ambulance and Dryden Ambulance where he was Director of Operations for several years.
In his free time, Clayton enjoyed golfing and snowmobiling and for the past ten years, spending as much time as possible with his grandson.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 41 years, Laurie Bronson; children: Amanda Bronson (Justin Naftel) and Malorie Bronson; grandson Brycen; sister Donna Gee; sister-in-law Pamela Bronson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Clayton was predeceased by his mother Miriam (Rouse) Bronson, his father Clayton Bronson, a sister Phyllis Bronson and a brother Douglas Bronson.
There will be a celebration of Clayton’s life at a later date back in his home state of New York.
