A 32-year-old man from Orange City is being accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl over the course of several years.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jacob Bloom on Wednesday, January 26, on charges of capital sexual battery of a victim under the age of 12.
According to police, Bloom began abusing the child several years ago. The victim was not a stranger to Bloom, but authorities have not released their relationship to protect her identity.
During their investigation, detectives learned that Bloom had a record of sexually abusing infants in Flagler County when he was 13 years old.
Due to his history and current charges, detectives are asking anyone with information about abuse that they or others may have experienced at the hands of Bloom to contact the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit at 386-323-3574.
Bloom is currently being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on no bond.
