Gerald Raymond Buchert, 72, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on January 18 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gerald was born on September 2, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Shauna Marie Buchert; four children, Jerry (Esmeralda), Michael, Nick (Elizabeth), and Abbey (Gabe); three grandchildren, Thomas, Giada, and Viviana; Carl Jones (Jaime) and Donte Jones (Tayler); and beloved siblings George (Sharon), Betsy Buchert Spiers (Bill), Linda Buchert Hoffman (Ray), Mark (Theresa), and Mary Jayne Buchert Shahine (Bobby).
He is preceded in death by his father, George Buchert, Sr., his mother, Mary Demarest Buchert, and his sister, Sandra Mary Buchert.
Gerald graduated from St. Aloysius (1968), and went on to obtain his bachelor’s in Business and play football at the University of Utah. Gerald touched the lives of so many as he served as math teacher, athletic director, and coach of men’s football, girl’s flag football, girl’s basketball, and men’s track and field at Oak Ridge High School (1979-1990), University High School (1990-2002), and Collins High School (2002-2012).
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 25 at 1pm EST at College Park United Methodist Church (644 W. Princeton Drive Orlando, FL 32804).
