On Thursday, February 2, 2023, Vence Simmons, devoted “Gramps” and father of 2 children, passed away at the age of 68.
Vence was born on April 8, 1954 in Nitro, WV to Wheeler and Elsie Simmons. He received his “hustler” degree from the school of hard knocks and raised 2 children that he was immensely proud of, Michael and Brandee.
Vence was a man of many trades. His love of baseball, business, and family created a full life lived his way.
He was often described by friends as “a character” who never met a stranger. He was loved for his quick wit, colorful jokes and love of laughter.
Vence was preceded in death by his parents, Jr. and Elsie Simmons, his sister Cindy and brother Wayne. He is survived by his children Brandee and her husband Ira, his son Michael and his wife Jessica and his 6 grandchildren Christopher, Emmalee, Hannah, Ryker, Lilly and Addilyne.
Vence will be sprinkled in Antioch Cemetery alongside his immediate family and his life will be celebrated by his family this summer when the blackberries are ripe for picking!
