Residual smoke from brush fire in Longwood may linger for ‘some time’

Fire crews are warning local residents of residual smoke that may be visible for days from a brush fire that was extinguished in Longwood.

Crews from the Seminole County Fire Department and Longwood Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the area of State Road 434 and Palm Springs Drive in Longwood earlier this week.

Despite taking control and extinguishing the fire, officials say that there will be residual smoke in the area for “some time.”

Residents are advised to only contact 911 if they see flames, not smoke.
